This wood is sold by the Lineal Foot (LF).
COLOR: White oak is brown in color, but can have a grayish cast.
HARDNESS: Janka hardness of 1360 as compared to Red Oak's hardness of 1290.
GRAIN: Open, with longer rays than Red Oak. Occasional crotches, swirls and burs.
VARIATIONS WITHIN SPECIES AND GRADES: White Oak has a medium to high degree of color variability and ranges from light tan colors to medium tan colors with a grayish cast to medium brown colors.
SANDING: The wood is reported to have satisfactory sanding characteristics.
NAILING: No known problems. Good holding ability. Low chance of splitting.
FINISHING: No known problems.
