This wood is sold by the Lineal Foot (LF).
COLOR: Heartwood is creamy white to light reddish brown and sapwood is pale to creamy white.
HARDNESS: Janka hardness of 1450 as compared to Red Oak's hardness of 1290.
GRAIN: Closed, subdued grain with moderate figuring and uniform texture. Occasionally shows quilted, fiddle back, curly or bird's-eye figuring.
VARIATIONS WITHIN SPECIES AND GRADES: Low to moderate color varitation.
SANDING: Good sanding properties.
NAILING: Good nailing and holding ability.
FINISHING: Maple is notorious for not taking stains evenly.
