COLOR: Orange/browns through to darker, more orange browns.
HARDNESS: Janka hardness of 800 as compared to Red Oak's hardness of 1290.
GRAIN: It is mostly straight-grained, but pieces with interlocked or irregular grain produce a highly valued beautiful figure on quartered surfaces. It has a moderately fine to medium and uniform texture.
VARIATIONS WITHIN SPECIES AND GRADES: Honduran Mahogany offers a medium degree of color variability from pale orange/browns to darker orangey browns.
SANDING: No known issues.
NAILING: Good holding ability.
FINISHING: No known problems with staining, painting or enamel.
